On Friday, Hamilton said: "The Rangers have done a lot for me, but I've got a question for y'all: Have I done a lot for the Rangers? I think I've given them everything I've had."

"I love Texas. I love my fans. I love fans of the Rangers. I love the organization. I love my teammates. I love everything about it," he said then. "But I'm not going to sit here and say that I owe the Rangers. I don't feel like I owe the Rangers."

On Sunday, Hamilton left no doubt about where he wants to play.

"This is where I've been. This is where my family's been, so obviously I would love to stay here more than anywhere else. First of all, they get a chance to do what they need to do to keep me here," he said.

Hamilton was the 2010 AL MVP, leading the league with a .359 batting average and .633 slugging percentage while hitting 32 home runs. He hit .298 with 25 home runs last year in an injury-interrupted season.

If there are contract talks once the Rangers get past opening day, Hamilton said agent Mike Moye would handle them.

"If it's during the season, I'm not going to know about them because I've asked not to know about them," Hamilton said. "I trust my agent. He's not just my agent, but a close friend and mentor of mine, somebody I go to for advice and I really trust. I leave that up to him. I just say call me when there is something worth talking about.

"I'm just going to leave it up to him. If they approach him and he feels like it is something to go forward with, I'll leave it up to him. It's not going to be something I'm focusing on, concentrating on," he said.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) ? Top-ranked Victoria Azarenka of Belarus shook off a lingering ankle injury to win the Qatar Open on Sunday, routing Sam Stosur of Australia 6-1, 6-2.

Azarenka earned her 17th straight victory and first title since replacing Caroline Wozniacki atop the rankings after winning the Australian Open. It was her third title overall in 2012.

Azarenka showed no ill effects after twisting her left ankle in the semifinal against Agnieszka Radwanska on Saturday.

She broke the fifth-ranked Stosur twice to lead 4-1 in the first set, making a brief trip to the net to clinch it with a backhand volley. Azarenka cruised to victory after winning the first three games of the second set.

"It's amazing. I can't believe I could play that kind of tennis today," Azarenka said. "I knew I wouldn't be 100 percent, so I had to change and adjust. I was just surprised today that everything was going in."

Fearful of further aggravating her ankle injury, Azarenka said she tried to keep the rallies short and took advantage of the windy conditions. The ankle was wrapped during the match and Azarenka said it should be fine after a few days of rest.

"I was trying to be really aggressive and not to let her command it, because that's what she likes to do," Azarenka said. "She has a huge serve, and the first shot, that's what she puts the opponent on the run, and you run like so far behind the baseline. So I tried to take that away from her."

Azarenka improved to 6-0 against Stosur after having previously beaten the Australian in November at the year-ending WTA Championships.

She kept Stosur's potent kick serve in check with her return game, with the Australian winning only 50 percent of first-serve points and 48 percent on the second. Azarenka also displayed a range of shots and ran down most balls, and Stosur finished with 25 unforced errors to only eight for the Belarusian.

"She's very good at neutralizing everything," Stosur said. "Especially tonight, I feel like I didn't get rewarded for hitting big serves. I didn't get rewarded for stepping in and trying to crack the return."

Stosur said Azarenka is benefiting from a growing belief in her game that comes with winning her first Grand Slam title and the longest winning streak since Maria Sharapova's 18-match run in 2008.

"I think the biggest difference is probably just her confidence that she's playing with at the moment," Stosur said. "When you're like that, you seem to do everything a little bit better. ... Obviously I haven't had success, and hopefully tonight I have been able to learn a couple of things and I can go into the next one maybe with something else to think about."

Azarenka will play at the Dubai Championships next week in Doha, the place where she lost in the first round last year ? a defeat she said briefly led her to consider quitting tennis.

After a brief trip home and counseling from her mother and grandmother, she return energized and with a more mature attitude. That resulted in her having the best season of her career, winning 55 of 72 matches to finish the year at No. 3.

Design
Out of the box, the PS Vita looks like the PlayStation Portable at first glance, but the overall build quality of the PS Vita is much better, right down to the small details. Without a pop-out door for UMDs or a sliding design, the PS Vita feels much more solid than the PSP, and despite their small size the analog sticks have just enough give for responsive control without feeling loose. Besides the proprietary USB port and headphone jack on the bottom, every port and slot on the PS Vita is covered by a door. The top edge holds the game card slot and an accessory port, the bottom edge holds the memory card slot, and the left edge holds the SIM card slot. The handheld weighs a solid 9.8 ounces, and at 7.2 inches wide by 3.3 inches tall by 0.7 inches deep it's almost the same as the PSP in shape.

The layout is pure PlayStation, with a direction pad, four face buttons, Start and Select buttons, a PlayStation button, two shoulder buttons, and two analog sticks. The top edge of the PS Vita holds the power button and volume controls. While there are only two shoulder buttons instead of four like on the PlayStation 3 controller, the front touch screen and back touchpad have enough input for no-compromise control, unlike the PSP with its single analog pad. The back touchpad sits seamlessly on the back of the PS Vita, without a frame or bezel, while two rubberized grips give your fingers a comfortable place to rest when you're not using the trackpad.

Hardware
The 5-inch OLED touch screen is gorgeous. It's bright, colorful, and extremely sharp. Its 960-by-544-pixel resolution makes it almost exactly equivalent to many current-generation large-screen Android phones, and not quite as high-resolution as the iPhone 4S or several 720p Android phones on the market. But at five inches, the PS Vita's display is more than sharp enough to lend a satisfying impression of high-definition video to a movie or game. The screen is also multitouch, so you can pinch to zoom in the Web browser, the map software, and in games.

The front- and back-facing cameras seem identical, and are only slightly sharper than the cameras on the 3DS. The Vita might compare favorably to the camera phones of a few years ago in image quality, but if you have a decent smartphone, there is no reason to use the Vita's camera for anything besides video chat and AR (augmented reality) games.

As a nice touch, the PS Vita supports Bluetooth devices just like the PS3, including stereo headsets. I paired my Logitech Wireless Headset to the Vita and could hear the background music of the menus and the dialog in Uncharted: Golden Abyss easily. If you don't have a Bluetooth headset, the PS Vita still has a 3.5mm headphone jack and on-board stereo speakers.

The Fellow will also be expected to spend a period of time in Ukraine (normally 6-8 weeks and preferably, but not necessarily, in May-June of the fellowship period) based at the National University of Kyiv?Mohyla Academy, where she/he may conduct research and participate in the academic life of the institution. The Fellowship is open to junior scholars in the social sciences and humanities with a teaching and research focus on contemporary Ukraine. The successful candidate must have completed his/her PhD not more than three years prior to the start of the fellowship period and before taking up the Fellowship. There are no restrictions with respect to citizenship. The Centre will make one appointment for the calendar year of twelve months beginning July 2012. The Fellowship holder will receive $40,000 Canadian funds plus an allowance for research and travel expenses. Applications with all required attachments should be received by March 1, 2012. Lots of talk of America's decline but few suggested solutions as Chinese vice president Xi Jinping visits Washington this week.

This week, as Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping pays a visit to Washington, there will doubtless be many calls for the Obama administration to talk tough with America?s largest trading partner. No more of that nonsense of undercutting US workers with your cheap labor, sir, and you had better start supporting some democratic reforms in the Middle East and back home or there?s going to be trouble. Big trouble.

There will also be calls for the US to cultivate Mr. Xi, who is likely to replace President Hu Jintao when Mr. Hu is ready to step down. Show him the superiority of the free market system, unfettered by regulations and government planning. Slip some of that American Soft Power ? into his green tea in the Oval Office. Ronald Reagan did it with Mikhail Gorbachev, and now Mr. Gorbachev is endorsing Louis Vuitton.

But what should the Obama administration do? Some say America?s persuasive power have passed their peak. The American economy is beginning to recover, but the longer term trends of job-loss, debt, and geopolitical exhaustion mean that any US president ? Democrat or Republican ? will have limited tools of bluster to define the terms of any future US-China relationship. Americans expect exceptionalism ??remember Tom Brokaw?s Greatest Generation ? and they expect their leaders to take up where the Roosevelts, Eisenhowers, and Reagans left off.

But a slew of well-argued pieces this week show that these expectations are maybe misplaced.

In Foreign Policy, Daniel Blumenthal ? an expert on China at the American Enterprise Institute ? says that it?s na?ve to think that either tough talk or sweet talk are going to win over Xi and set China on a different path. The truth is that the China that Xi would eventually govern is much more pluralistic and complex than the China that Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon negotiated with during the cold war, or as politically weak as the Soviet Union that Mr. Gorbachev so helpfully dismantled.
