He may not have two tickets to paradise, but he could have one-way air fare to San Francisco.
On Monday, when the news broke that Ravens safety Ed Reed has hired agent David Dunn, a league source who is as plugged in as anyone predicted that Reed will sign with the 49ers.
Earlier today, Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted that some believe the Niners will make a push for Reed if they lose safety Dashon Goldson.
Since we strongly believe that Niners are highly likely to lose Goldson, Reed necessarily is in play.
Strengthening the potential connection is the fact that Dunn also represents 49ers G.M. Trent Baalke and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.
Which means that, in the sudden NFC West arms race that has broken out between the 49ers and the Seahawks, Seattle will need to respond with a bold move of their own.

Free agent defensive tackle Terrance Knighton is nearing a deal with the Broncos, ESPN?s Adam Schefter reported early Wednesday morning. Knighton ranks No. 59 on PFT?s Free Agent Hot 100.
According to Schefter, Knighton wants to work again with Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, who was Jacksonville?s head coach for the bulk of the 6-foot-3, 330-pound defensive tackle?s first three seasons with the Jaguars.
The 26-year-old Knighton played all 16 games in 2012, but he made just four starts. He recorded 32 tackles and two sacks.

The Redskins and defensive tackle Kedric Golston?reached agreement on a new three-year contract on Tuesday. Golston confirmed?the signing on Twitter.
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Golston can make as much as $5.2 million over the life of the contract, and the deal includes a $360,000 signing bonus.
Golston appeared in 16 games as a reserve in 2012, recording 16 tackles. He has started 43 career games for Washington in seven NFL seasons.
Golston, 29, has played his entire career in Washington. He was a sixth-round pick in 2006.
ESPN?s Adam Schefter first reported Golston?s signing.

Dozens of names popped up in the dozens of posts on PFT on Tuesday, but we haven?t heard anything about Brian Urlacher.
The Bears linebacker is officially a free agent, but there doesn?t appear to be much movement at all on his possible return to Chicago for a 14th season. The Bears were busy signing tight end Martellus Bennett and tackle Jermon Bushrod, which may explain why they haven?t had time to respond to the contract proposal Urlacher sent to the team last week. Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports that Urlacher?s looking for a two-year deal but the Bears have not responded with a counteroffer.
McClure also reports that several teams ?have inquired about the possibility? of adding Urlacher to their defense. One of those teams is the Cowboys, according to a report from Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. Silver reports the Cowboys have ?haven?t ruled out? signing Urlacher to play in defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin?s Tampa-2 scheme, which is the basis of the one Urlacher played in under Lovie Smith as a Bear. Former Bears defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is also in Dallas as Kiffin?s defensive line coach.
The Cowboys have Sean Lee to play middle linebacker, though, and they aren?t exactly overflowing with cap room. Which likely means that we?ll be waiting a bit longer to find out where Urlacher will be playing in 2013.

The rich could be getting even richer.? By making another rich guy richer.
Per multiple reports, defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey will visit the 49ers.
Dorsey, the fifth overall pick in the 2008 draft, became a free agent on Tuesday, when his contract with the Chiefs expired.? Though the Chiefs want to keep him, interest spiked when the Dolphins applied the franchise tag to defensive lineman Randy Starks.
Dorsey could help replace nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, who left the 49ers for the Eagles on the first day of free agency.

It?s been expected for a while now that the Cardinals would have some interest in quarterback Drew Stanton and those expectations appear to be realized.
Mike Jurecki of 910 XTRA reports that Stanton is on his way to Arizona to visit with the Cardinals. Stanton spent the 2012 season as the backup quarterback for the Colts, who were coached for most of the season by new Cardinals coach Bruce Arians.
The bleak state of the quarterback situation in Arizona doesn?t need to be recounted, so it should go without saying that Stanton?s got as good a shot at winning the Cardinals? starting job as he has anywhere in the league. If the Cards don?t figure out a way to hold onto Kevin Kolb at a cheaper salary than the $11.5 million he?s set to make in 2013, Stanton would likely have the inside track on starting given his experience with Arians and the performance of the other quarterbacks already on the Cardinals? roster.
Jurecki also reports that running back Rashard Mendenhall is expected to visit with the Cardinals, a fit that seems to make sense thanks to Arians? past role as the Steelers? offensive coordinator. We?ve reported that Mendenhall is likely to join Peyton Manning in Denver, however, so we?ll see how whether or not the Cardinals are able to sway Mendenhall away from Denver.

Today?s first-ever two-hour edition of Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports Network included a visit from Buccaneers defensive end Michael Bennett.
Bennett, an unrestricted free agent, pegs his chances of staying with the Bucs at a low number.
?I don?t know, 20-to-40 percent,? Bennett said.? ?It?s not 100 percent.? It?s 20-to-40 percent.? I?m not sure how it?s gonna play out but it?s a business and hopefully the best things happen.?
The chances of Bennett staying are likely lower than that, given his assessment of their offer on a long-term deal.? ?It wasn?t good obviously,? Bennett said.? ?If it was good I would have took it and been a Buccaneer but so I?m just moving on and seeing what?s out there for me.?
He said ?a lot of teams? are interested.? We should find out soon who they are.

Rams receiver Danny Amendola has become a free agent.? And he?s not expected to stay with the Rams.
Per a league source, Amendola is currently planning to visit two teams.? The names of the teams aren?t yet known.
Which could mean that one or both teams have insisted on discretion.
Regardless, the chances of Amendola staying with the Rams are small and shrinking.
Potentially interested teams include (and we?re guessing) the Patriots and the Vikings.? The Ravens could be interested, given the departure of Anquan Boldin.
The Texans also could make sense, especially since they have released Kevin Walter.

The Colts are the first club?safety?LaRon Landry will visit in free agency.
According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Landry?could also visit the Cardinals, Lions and 49ers.
Arizona, Detroit and San Francisco all seem logical suitors for Landry if he does not sign with Indianapolis right off the bat. The Cardinals recently released Adrian Wilson. The Lions have questions at both safety spots, particularly if free agent Louis Delmas signs elsewhere. (The Lions were linked?to Landry last year.)?Also, 49ers free safety?Dashon Goldson?is testing free agency, with Tampa Bay in pursuit.
Landry ranks No. 47 on our list of the top free agents of 2013. He racked up a career-best 100 tackles for the Jets in 2012.

The Broncos are keeping one of their own.
Defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson has agreed to terms to remain with the team.? The Broncos announced the move earlier tonight.
Vickerson has spent the last three seasons in Denver.? He previously played for the Titans and the Dolphins.
Last year, Vickerson started 14 games ? the most of his career.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has said that the team?s cap surplus will be used on the current players.
But that doesn?t mean newcomers won?t be welcome.
According to Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports, former Cardinals running back Beanie Wells visited the Bengals on Tuesday.? On Wednesday, free-agent Mike Goodson arrives.? Goodson spent 2012 with the Raiders; per Silver, the Jets and Cowboys also are interested.
The Bengals want a tailback who can share touches with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who arrived as a free agent in 2012.

Free-agent safety Dashon Goldson is visiting the Buccaneers.? But there?s no deal in place, yet.
Contrary to a report from one of the various Tampa radio station, the Bucs and Goldson have not agreed to terms.
An agreement will come at the earliest on Wednesday, if Goldons likes what he sees ? and if the numbers are right.
The absence of state income taxes could help in that regard.

The trade that will send receiver Anquan Boldin from the Ravens to the 49ers has been announced.? But it still hinges on Boldin passing a physical.
And Boldin tweeted within the hour that his physical will be placed ?on hold for a few days? because Boldin is ?busy in Senegal with Oxfam America.?
The problem for the Ravens is that Boldin?s $6 million salary will continue to count against the team?s cap until the trade is done.
Not that the Ravens are pressed like the Cowboys against the cap.? But, still, if the goal was to drop Boldin?s cap number by the start of the new league year, it won?t be happening for a few more days.

It?s like Christmas in Miami.
When the kids get a bunch of shiny new toys, the old stuff goes to the garage. Or to the curb.
After a flurry of activity which saw them sign linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Phillip Wheeler, and releasing Karlos Dansby, they?ve also released Kevin Burnett, according to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated.
Burnett started every game during his two seasons with the Dolphins, and didn?t seem like the kind of player who was screaming to be replaced, at least until somebody woke up with a wad of salary cap room burning a hole in his pocket.

We reported over the weekend, which feels like it was a year ago, that the Broncos are interested in running back Rashard Mendenhall.
Interest could soon become something more.
Per a league source, the Broncos are likely to add the former first-round pick, whose rookie contract with the Steelers officially expired earlier today.
Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL in Week 17 of the 2011 season, and he battled an Achilles injury during the 2012 season.? He also had an Osama bin Laden Twitter misadventure two years ago, not to mention a decision to stay home after he was informed he?d be deactivated for a December game against the Chargers.
The Broncos don?t seem to be deterred.
Also interested are the Cardinals.? But the Broncos are deemed to be the favorite to land him.

The Vikings have agreed to re-sign linebacker Erin Henderson a two-year contract, PFT?s Mike Florio confirmed Tuesday.
The Vikings? weak side linebacker, the 26-year-old Henderson played 14 games (10 starts) in 2012, recording a career-high 80 tackles and defending three passes. ?He?has started 21 games in the last two seasons for Minnesota.
The Vikings have emphasized re-signing their own players early in the offseason. In addition to Henderson, the Vikings have kept right tackle Phil Loadholt, fullback Jerome Felton and wideout Jerome Simpson.
